November Open House

Tonight we finally got to watch Kera in ballet! We invited MeMaw and PePaw to come watch too!! After last Wednesday I've been trying to prepare Kera for an audience by telling her that Mommy, Daddy, Drake, Memaw and PePaw are going to come watch you dance so you have to be really good and listen to the teacher. She was really good! The last ten minutes or so she was done, and pouted a bit. Otherwise she did well. It made me tear up to see her dance, and to talk to this other little girl. It was so sweet!!

Their next open house is in April, so a long ways off! Kera needs to practice on her skip/hop but over all she was really good and she listened to the teacher very well. I think she'll do great in school in a year and a half.

Their recital is in June, and I can't wait!! It's going to be Disney themed, and I know Kera will be excited about that, especially if she gets to dress up as a princess. We will see what their costumes will look like in January I think, or at least that is when we have to pay for them. Fun fun :).

She really loves dance. Sometimes after it is over she will tell us she doesn't love it, but the whole week she asks "Is ballerina school today?!", I tell her no and I count the days until it's Wednesday.

Drake did really well too sitting it daddy's lap and sometimes PePaw's lap. After her open house we went to eat some BBQ with MeMaw and PePaw where Kera had a complete meltdown because we put her clothes on over her leotard and tights and she wanted them off right THEN!

Here is a few pictures, Unfortunately, we got the back view most of the time.

Daddy and Son

While Kera goes to dance on Wednesdays, Dane usually tries to get off of work early to spend some time with Drake. Sometimes they come with me to Walmart. Other times, they stay home and cook... sometimes they go to the park. A couple of times they went fishing. It's just really a bonding time for Drake and Dane, which is a good thing because Drake LOVES his daddy. He's a serious daddy's boy all of the way! Today we tested out a location for an engagement session I have coming up. I had two of the best models... or at least the cutest!

Happy 3 years and 6 month Birthday Drake and Kera!

So, I'm totally going to start doing monthly posts for the kids monthly birthday. My sister in law does it, and it's a great idea! I should have started it a lot sooner, but better now then never right? I'm going to try and do a mini photo shoot of the kids every month!

Happy 3.5 year old birthday Kera!

Unlike her brother, Kera poses for pictures! She is so girly lately! She loves having her hair curled, braided, or put in a pony tail. She loves bows, I should probably make her some more! She LOVES make up, lip gloss, and nail polish. She wants to look in the shoe section almost every time we go to Target or Walmart, and she asks to try them on. I think she will have a shoe fetish when she grows up. I'm not sure where she got that from since I only own a couple pair of shoes. I've had the same tennis shoes since high school 8 years ago!

Kera still sucks her middle two fingers when she is tired, or sleeping. She always wants to sleep with a doll, it usually changes once per month on what her favorite doll is. The doll that she chooses to sleep with also has to go everywhere with us!

The girl loves to dance! She loves all kinds of music, and she'll dance to almost every type of music! She loves her ballet class, I'm so happy we decided to put her in that!!

Kera loves Sponge Bob, and computer games. She dislikes going potty on the potty chair! She doesn't like when I give her an evil stare when she does something wrong, she knows she is about to get a time out - she straightens up real quick! She really loves/needs naps! She is so cranky otherwise.

She comes to our bed at night, and she must be by me. It's sweet, but the habit needs to be broken. Both of them are scared of the dark now, and it has been several months now that their closet doors have been opened and lights are on. Kera is now in a phase where at night her toys scare her. I remember when I was young, I used to think my barbies would come and hurt me! I don't think I was that young, and I don't know where she gets some of this stuff from. She doesn't watch scary movies/shows. So I don't know.

She loves making pizza - and eating it too. She loves vegetable pasta, mac and cheese, but also loves her chocolate/candy.

Right now she is a mommy's girl mostly, but of course she still loves her daddy and screams and hollers "Hooray" when daddy gets home from work!

The next 6 months will pass so quickly, and she will be 4!!

Happy 3.5 year old birthday Drake!

Drake is seriously not a picture boy! He could care less about the camera, but he took a few for me... because I bribed him with Halloween chocolate! Drake is all about cars, trucks, emergency vehicles, air planes, helicopters, cranes, motorcycles... basically anything that moves. When I drop Kera off at dance on Wednesdays Drake and I usually go to Walmart, and we'll stop by the toy section. Last Wednesday, we stayed there in that section for 45 minutes! He didn't move around a lot. Basically he just wanted to play with some tractors!

Drake is all boy. He very much likes to cause trouble, or push peoples buttons. He likes to test all three of us, to see how far he can push us. Boys are VERY different from girls, or at least mine is. That is a good thing though, I have both worlds.

For about 6 or so months now, Drake has been coming to bed with us at night. We would really like to put a stop to that, because he's a CRAZY sleeper! He will literally take up half of our king sized bed by laying side ways. Or he will lay on top of Dane's back and sleep there. We really need to break the habit. I'm not sure when it all changed, or why it changed. They both were so good about sleeping in their own beds! Soon it will have to change :) and when I say soon, I mean like in a couple of weeks when the spookiness of Halloween is hopefully gone out of their minds.

Drake's favorite movie is still Toy Story. He LOVES computer games on sprout. He does not like blueberry waffles, or gumbo! He really likes vegetable pasta, but I'm sure if he had the choice between vegetable pasta or chocolate/candy, he would choose candy hands down. He is like his mommy, a mouth full of sweet teeth!

Drake does an excellent job using the potty! I hope to have them potty trained by 4! PLEASE GOD, let them be potty trained by time they are 4!!!!

Drake loves his Me-maw and PePaw, he loves to help mommy or daddy cook, wash dishes, put dishes away, or fold towels. He's very helpful when he wants to be. He is definitely a daddy's boy all of the way. He will ask numerous times when daddy will be home. He wants daddy to put him to bed every night. He loves his daddy!! He gets sooo excited when he hears Dane's car come up in the drive way. "Daddy home, yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy". I just can't believe my baby is going to be 4 years old in 6 months!

Sibling Love

Drake and Kera usually get along well. I guess it is with every sibling that they have their moments where they just want to be left alone, or have a break from the other one. Drake really likes to push Kera's buttons, or steal her candy, or just push her for no reason. Yeah... he's the bully. Just when I reach the point where I want to pull out my hair and bang my head into the wall, they do something so sweet, like hug each other, or kiss, or hold hands. Those moments make me realize that I am soooo beyond blessed to have twins. They are so lucky to have each other, even if they get on each others nerves sometimes. I know they love each other, and I hope that love grows with them through adulthood. I hope they always have each others backs. Thank goodness they aren't even 4 yet! I have a while to think about all of that, but I know it will all zoom by in a flash.

Happy Halloween!

Drake and Kera have been talking about Halloween for a couple of months now. So to see today be almost over, it's kind of sad.

When Dane got home we started getting ready. I asked Kera if she wanted me to curl her hair. At first she said no, but I told her come on it will be fun. Boy did she love it! I sprayed SO MUCH hairspray in her hair. That girl's hair doesn't hold a curl at all! It was cute none the less. I also put make up on her again, and she loves that. Drake loves to watch his sister get make up and he kept touching her hair saying "ohhh pretty Kera!".

After we got them all decked out into their Halloween costumes, we went outside to take a few pictures. Then made the haul up and down numerous streets. There were a lot of people standing outside of their doors this year, I don't think Drake and Kera liked that too much. Once we got to homes that had closed doors they let go of our hands and ran to the door to knock. I think Drake won the most! He would pound on the door, then ring the doorbell, then pound a couple more times. I'm like Drake no, they are coming! They were both so good about saying "trick or treat" "thank you" and "Happy Halloween!". There were a couple of houses where the decorations were pretty scary. The first couple of houses Dane would say "Don't be scared they are just toys!". Ummmm, and I wonder why Kera is scared of her bedroom at night, and scared of her toys! I told him, "no they are decorations! Just like for Christmas we have Christmas trees, Halloween we have ghosts, and other scary decorations, but they are just pretend". I don't know really how to explain to the kids that they are just decorations and they shouldn't be afraid. Some of the houses though, are kind of spooky. Especially the chainsaw house! ::Sigh::.

We trick or treated for a long time. Then made our way back home and unloaded the MASSIVE amounts of candy! Good thing we brought an extra bag along to dump their buckets into once they were heavy!

They ended up with mostly chocolate, but this lady was handing out 7 up out of her car. She lived in a gated community so she parks her car in the street! She thought she ran out of drinks and gave Drake $1. She then found some more in her trunk and gave them two more drinks! Haha. She's a sweet lady, and had the best Halloween Holiday spirit. You can see that she loves the holiday, and loves seeing kids faces light up with smiles!

On our way home I told the kids, well that was it. That is the end of Halloween for this year. Next year you will be 4 and a 1/2! :( That makes me so sad to think about. It's bittersweet to think that the next year will be their last year to trick or treat before going off to school! Wahhhhh!!!!

The Haunted Gardens

I love this time of year. Everything about it. The cooler weather, the fun holidays, and not to mention the free activities to do!

We took Drake and Kera to the Haunted Gardens (Moody Gardens) today. We made use of the season pass that Grandpa & DeDe got us. The kids loved getting ready and dressing up in their Halloween costumes - Kera especially loved that I put make up on her. She is such a girly girl! We made the hour drive to go to Moody Gardens, and went trick or treating. Saw a few animals. Nothing too great... It wasn't as much fun as I thought it was going to be. So I asked Dane if we could go buy the kids some cheap outfits somewhere and head to the strand in Galveston.

After a trip to Ross we were ready. Dane wanted to try the Gumbo Bar, on 21st street. It was pretty good!! We then walked the strand, and the kids were really having fun! We stopped at the Chocolate factory and bought them an ice cream cone. Kera wanted chocolate, and Drake wanted mint chocolate chip. Of course about 15 minutes later, Kera's hands were getting sticky and dirty, so she didn't want anything to do with her ice cream anymore. We ran out of napkins so that was the time we decided to make our way back to the car. Once we got there Drake's hands were covered in ice cream. I swear those kids are two different children! Kera is exactly like I was when I was a child. I hated getting dirty, sticky, and I hated SNOW. Could you imagine. Ok, so maybe she isn't exactly like I was, but she does NOT like having her face or hands dirty.

Dane had packed his camera to take some pictures of the kids, but when we arrived at Moody Gardens and I told him, "Hey, don't forget your camera!", he informed me he left it at the house on accident. So only a few pictures from Dane's cell phone.

Hot air balloon festival

We are back!! I slacked so much on my last family blog. This time I need to keep it up. Not only to have documentation of all of the incredibly cute things that Drake and Kera do, but to also start taking more pictures of my children! I slacked off in that area too. I rely on my camera phone now a days, and I don't want to do that for their memories. Some are okay, but for all of them? No. Even if I have to use my point and shoot, that is much better then using my camera phone for all of their memories.

So last weekend we went to the hot air balloon festival, and Dane's brother came a long with his daughter to join in on the fun. Or lack there of? It was still neat, but they claimed that it was too windy for the hot air balloons. Really? I didn't even feel any wind! So they canceled the lift off, except two hot air balloons made the attempt to take off. It was really beautiful. I wish we could have saw a sky full of them. I really wanted to stay until the glow take off at night, but Dane's brother wanted to go :). Maybe next year.

We had a good time though. We saw 2 hot air balloons, sky divers, we ate kettle corn, and I bought Drake and Kera a dora and spiderman balloon blow up thingy. I think they had fun visiting with their cousin, and enjoyed the change of scenery and nice fresh air!
