Happy Halloween!

Drake and Kera have been talking about Halloween for a couple of months now. So to see today be almost over, it's kind of sad.

When Dane got home we started getting ready. I asked Kera if she wanted me to curl her hair. At first she said no, but I told her come on it will be fun. Boy did she love it! I sprayed SO MUCH hairspray in her hair. That girl's hair doesn't hold a curl at all! It was cute none the less. I also put make up on her again, and she loves that. Drake loves to watch his sister get make up and he kept touching her hair saying "ohhh pretty Kera!".

After we got them all decked out into their Halloween costumes, we went outside to take a few pictures. Then made the haul up and down numerous streets. There were a lot of people standing outside of their doors this year, I don't think Drake and Kera liked that too much. Once we got to homes that had closed doors they let go of our hands and ran to the door to knock. I think Drake won the most! He would pound on the door, then ring the doorbell, then pound a couple more times. I'm like Drake no, they are coming! They were both so good about saying "trick or treat" "thank you" and "Happy Halloween!". There were a couple of houses where the decorations were pretty scary. The first couple of houses Dane would say "Don't be scared they are just toys!". Ummmm, and I wonder why Kera is scared of her bedroom at night, and scared of her toys! I told him, "no they are decorations! Just like for Christmas we have Christmas trees, Halloween we have ghosts, and other scary decorations, but they are just pretend". I don't know really how to explain to the kids that they are just decorations and they shouldn't be afraid. Some of the houses though, are kind of spooky. Especially the chainsaw house! ::Sigh::.

We trick or treated for a long time. Then made our way back home and unloaded the MASSIVE amounts of candy! Good thing we brought an extra bag along to dump their buckets into once they were heavy!

They ended up with mostly chocolate, but this lady was handing out 7 up out of her car. She lived in a gated community so she parks her car in the street! She thought she ran out of drinks and gave Drake $1. She then found some more in her trunk and gave them two more drinks! Haha. She's a sweet lady, and had the best Halloween Holiday spirit. You can see that she loves the holiday, and loves seeing kids faces light up with smiles!

On our way home I told the kids, well that was it. That is the end of Halloween for this year. Next year you will be 4 and a 1/2! :( That makes me so sad to think about. It's bittersweet to think that the next year will be their last year to trick or treat before going off to school! Wahhhhh!!!!

The Haunted Gardens

I love this time of year. Everything about it. The cooler weather, the fun holidays, and not to mention the free activities to do!

We took Drake and Kera to the Haunted Gardens (Moody Gardens) today. We made use of the season pass that Grandpa & DeDe got us. The kids loved getting ready and dressing up in their Halloween costumes - Kera especially loved that I put make up on her. She is such a girly girl! We made the hour drive to go to Moody Gardens, and went trick or treating. Saw a few animals. Nothing too great... It wasn't as much fun as I thought it was going to be. So I asked Dane if we could go buy the kids some cheap outfits somewhere and head to the strand in Galveston.

After a trip to Ross we were ready. Dane wanted to try the Gumbo Bar, on 21st street. It was pretty good!! We then walked the strand, and the kids were really having fun! We stopped at the Chocolate factory and bought them an ice cream cone. Kera wanted chocolate, and Drake wanted mint chocolate chip. Of course about 15 minutes later, Kera's hands were getting sticky and dirty, so she didn't want anything to do with her ice cream anymore. We ran out of napkins so that was the time we decided to make our way back to the car. Once we got there Drake's hands were covered in ice cream. I swear those kids are two different children! Kera is exactly like I was when I was a child. I hated getting dirty, sticky, and I hated SNOW. Could you imagine. Ok, so maybe she isn't exactly like I was, but she does NOT like having her face or hands dirty.

Dane had packed his camera to take some pictures of the kids, but when we arrived at Moody Gardens and I told him, "Hey, don't forget your camera!", he informed me he left it at the house on accident. So only a few pictures from Dane's cell phone.

Hot air balloon festival

We are back!! I slacked so much on my last family blog. This time I need to keep it up. Not only to have documentation of all of the incredibly cute things that Drake and Kera do, but to also start taking more pictures of my children! I slacked off in that area too. I rely on my camera phone now a days, and I don't want to do that for their memories. Some are okay, but for all of them? No. Even if I have to use my point and shoot, that is much better then using my camera phone for all of their memories.

So last weekend we went to the hot air balloon festival, and Dane's brother came a long with his daughter to join in on the fun. Or lack there of? It was still neat, but they claimed that it was too windy for the hot air balloons. Really? I didn't even feel any wind! So they canceled the lift off, except two hot air balloons made the attempt to take off. It was really beautiful. I wish we could have saw a sky full of them. I really wanted to stay until the glow take off at night, but Dane's brother wanted to go :). Maybe next year.

We had a good time though. We saw 2 hot air balloons, sky divers, we ate kettle corn, and I bought Drake and Kera a dora and spiderman balloon blow up thingy. I think they had fun visiting with their cousin, and enjoyed the change of scenery and nice fresh air!
